Monarch Beach Golf Links and OB Sports Golf Management recently appointed Mathew Dunmyer as golf course superintendent. Located at The St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort in South Orange County on the edge of the Pacific Ocean, Monarch Beach Golf Links features a scenic Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed layout that was recently ranked as one of the Top 75 Best Golf Resorts in North America by Golf Digest.

Dunmyer is responsible for all aspects of agronomy and golf course maintenance for the oceanfront resort course that was also included in Golf Magazine’s Premier Resort rankings for 2012. Dunmyer, under the direction of OB Sports, is also overseeing a number of course enhancement projects including new landscape enhancements, tee deck improvements, bunker enhancements, and the development of new agronomic and cultural practices that will ensure exceptional conditions for the resort and daily fee guests.

A GCSAA Class A superintendent, Dunmyer has over 15 years of agronomic experience in the golf industry. Prior to joining the team at Monarch Beach Golf Links, Dunmyer was the golf course superintendent at Valley Hi Country Club in Elk Grove, California. He also served as the golf course superintendent at Rock Creek Cattle Company in Deer Lodge, Montana; Sonoma Golf Club in Sonoma, California and at Moraga Country Club in Moraga, California. At Sonoma Golf Club he managed the agronomic conditions for the Champions Tour season ending Charles Schwab Cup Tour Championship for three consecutive years. Also while at Sonoma, Dunmyer was honored with the coveted Turfgrass Excellence Award from the Northern California Superintendents Association. His hobbies and interests include golf, hiking, canoeing, traveling and studying golf course architecture.
