Wear Green to the Open – Waste Management Phoenix’s third annual “Green Out” is Saturday, February 2nd

The Waste Management Phoenix Open’s third annual GREEN OUT is Saturday, February 2nd during the 3rd round of the tournament. The tournament host Thunderbirds and title sponsor Waste Management encourage all fans attending the tournament on Saturday to wear something green to show their support for the green/ efforts of the tournament.

“The Green Out has become an annual event celebrating Waste Management’s  initiatives both at the tournament and in everyday life,” said Tournament Chairman Tom Altieri. “We encourage everyone to participate by wearing something green – a shirt, hat, shorts or pants.”

For every person who wears GREEN on Saturday, February 2nd, the tournament host Thunderbirds will donate some green to three deserving non-profit organizations. Based on an online voting contest held on the tournament’s Facebook page in early January, Keep Phoenix Beautiful will receive 50 percent of the funds, Arizona Forward 35 percent and Keep America Beautiful 15 percent.

In 2012, the Green Out raised $50,000 for Keep Phoenix Beautiful. According to the Waste Management Phoenix Open’s ‘Green Squad’ nearly 1/3 of the tournament’s 173,210 fans and nearly all PGA TOUR pros donned green gear. In 2011, the Green Out raised $35,000 for Arizona Clean & Beautiful.
