Waste Management Phoenix Open launches “Go for the Glory” contest using new Aquimo Mobile App

Aquimo Pin High App enables golf fans to virtually play the famous WM Phoenix Open 16th Hole for a chance to win contest prizes

The Waste Management Phoenix Open announced the launch of its “Go for the Glory” closest-to-the-pin contest using the new Aquimo Pin High App. The “Go for the Glory” contest, which runs from December 16, 2013 – February 9, 2014 enables users to virtually play the famous Waste Management Phoenix Open 16th Hole by interacting with the mobile app. The Aquimo Pin High App is available for download and use on Apple devices, and is expected to be available on Android devices by January 1, 2014.

To participate, users download the App to a smart phone, launch the App, then simply swing the phone like they would an actual golf club.  The App’s mobile golf simulator and motion sensors analyze a player’s personal golf swing to determine ball flight and shot results on the famous 16th Hole of the TPC Scottsdale Stadium Course, home of the Waste Management Phoenix Open. Aquimo Pin High is not just another golf app in that players can also log into play.aquimo.com from a home or office computer, which will automatically connect them to their phone’s app and the web page. Players can see and hear the crowd on the 16th Hole cheer when a good shot is made and the opposite reaction from the virtual crowd when a poor shot is made.

As part of the “Go for the Glory” contest, users may take unlimited swings each day on the virtual 16th Hole while in “Practice Mode.” To enter the contest, users must access the “Tournament Mode,” where they may take a maximum of nine swings on the virtual 16th Hole each day. After each of three swings in Tournament Mode, the participant is prompted to post his or her best shot to the leaderboard by allowing the App to post to the participant’s Facebook page.

The contest period includes three Qualifying Rounds (December 16-31, January 1-29 and January 30-February 2) and a Final Round (February 3-9). Prizes will be awarded to the top 50 closest-to-the-pin entries in January and daily during tournament week (January 30 to February 2). After all three Qualifying Rounds, the top 100 closest-to-the-pin finalists for the contest will receive WM Phoenix Open golf gloves autographed by PGA TOUR players Charley Hoffman or Joe Ogilvie. The 100 Finalists will also be invited to participate in the Final Round from February 3-9, 2014. The top finalist with a single shot closest-to-the-pin in the Final Round will be named the “Grand Prize Winner.” The Grand Prize Winner will be announced on February 10, and will receive two 16th Hole Skybox tickets to three days of the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open and a three night hotel stay at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess Resort. For a list of complete Contest rules visit www.aquimo.com.
