Centennial Golf Club captures 2013 TaylorMade OB Sports National Team Championship presented by Scottsdale Convention and Visitors Bureau

The team from the Oregon’s Centennial Golf Club overcame unusually cool conditions in early December to shoot a final-round 199 on their way to a seven-stroke victory in the 2013 TaylorMade OB Sports National Team Championship, presented by Scottsdale Convention & Visitors Bureau. The champs finished with a total team score of 405 after firing 206 the first day.

 “This was definitely a ‘team win’ for us,” stated Vince Domenzain, General Manager for Centennial & Quail Point Golf Clubs. “To have all three of our teams finish in the top three was amazing and a credit to our courses and players. We are very thankful to have been able to play in this first-class event and represent our home clubs. We look forward to defending our title next year,” added Domenzain.

As Domenzain mentioned, the team from Quail Point Golf Club, also located in Oregon, came in second place, finishing with a total score of 412 (203-209) in the annual amateur team tournament. Three teams tied for third place, eight strokes behind the pace — Centennial I (213-200), Tatum Ranch (207-206) and Tijeras Creek (201-212). 

In total, 240 national qualifiers participated in the event, representing 25 OB Sports-affiliated golf clubs throughout the United States. Each golf club fielded an eight-person team (grouped together in four, two-person teams) made up of seven qualifiers from the club and the club’s golf professional. Each of the teams posted its best three, two-person-team net scores, across both days of competition, and the team with the lowest net score — Centennial — was crowned the overall champion. This 36-hole national event was played concurrently on two courses: McDowell Mountain Golf Club in Scottsdale and Tatum Ranch Golf Club in Cave Creek, AZ.
