Two students from the First Tee of Phoenix – Emma Reyes and Matthew Topilko – have been selected to play in the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach, an official Champions Tour event, held September 26-28.
“This is really exciting for everyone here at The First Tee of Phoenix,” said Hugh Smith, Director of the First Tee of Phoenix. “Both Emma and Matthew have truly embraced our program and all it has to offer. They’ve worked very hard for an opportunity to show their stuff, and they will no doubt represent The First Tee of Phoenix and themselves with distinction.”
Reyes and Topilko are two of 81 participants representing 54 chapters of The First Tee, ages 14 to 18, who were selected by a national panel of judges that evaluated participants’ playing ability and comprehension of the life skills and character education learned through their involvement with The First Tee. Nearly 150 applications were submitted.
