In the two years since C-Bons International Golf Group (CBIGG) acquired Western Skies Golf Club, this favorite East Valley course has grown even more inviting. This course is an oasis in the busy town of Gilbert, Arizona.

In the summer and early fall 2014, CBIGG invested a significant amount of money in the infrastructure of Western Skies. The renovation includes key refurbishments that return the golf course to what designer Brian Whitcomb originally intended in 1992, only with the maturity that comes with 22 years and the benefit of advancements in agronomy and technology.

Twenty acres of turf that was previously removed to save on water has been restored. Gone are the forced carries over desert scruff. Western Skies plays as formidable as ever, but the extended landing areas allow for more forgiveness. In addition, the look of the course is greatly improved. The view from the new championship tees at the 10th hole says it all. These improvements make Western Skies the most desirable place to play a round or hold your golf tournament.

Gone is the sporadic watering of the golf course the old-fashioned way. A new state of- the-art Toro GDC irrigation system with central computer monitoring and a more efficient pump station replace a very antiquated, ineffective method of irrigation. The result is a consistent, evenly distributed irrigation of the fairways and greens. Each sprinkler head is programmed and independently adjusted for its immediate area and releases only the necessary amount of water for the most efficient coverage. Saving time, money and natural resources, this investment translates into fabulous playing conditions year-round.

Improvements to the now entirely night-lit practice facility are comprehensive. Sharply reshaped target greens and fairway bunkers on the range improve visibility, while the extended hitting area allows more time to grow turf and maintain perfect practice conditions. A new putting green spreads out to the side. The short game area has grown from a 7,000 square foot putting green to one of 12,000 square feet, with an expansive practice bunker. The result is guests can now enjoy Western Skies far into the evening as a new nightspot for avid golfers.

In addition to the golf course upgrades, Mulligans Grill has undergone a renovation. This full-service restaurant, featuring warm stone walls and an inviting bar, is a destination, whether you golf or not. The menu and quality of food will impress even the most discerning diner. Mulligans serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Chef Jay Godfrey and his staff make sure every guest gets the best of what Mulligans Grill has to offer. Casual yet elegant food is something that the staff strives for while frequent menu changes make for a unique experience each time you go to the course.

Western Skies and Mulligans also specialize in hosting groups large and small, including weddings. Our event planning staff is second to none in making sure your event is special, whether a wedding or a business meeting. Event Manager Laura Jacques brings years of experience in designing every type of event imaginable.

In addition, Western Skies has improved its patio service, which is adjacent to the practice facility. The improvements include installing large permanent shade structures featuring an advanced mist system with infrared heaters for year-round climate control. This makes outdoor dining year-round a reality. With the beautiful views, tranquil setting, first class service and quality, there is no reason why Western Skies and Mulligans shouldn’t be your first choice for golf, dining, or both!

Along with these exciting changes in facilities, we are pleased to announce Western Skies new General Manager, Jason Fortney. Mr. Fortney returns to Western Skies from Stallion Mountain Golf Club (a sister property) in Las Vegas where he has been the General Manager for the past year.  Jason and his team are very excited and enthusiastic to ensure that each and every guest that visits Western Skies has a fabulous experience. We believe the service begins at the entrance to the parking lot and ends when you depart the property. The management team and the staff are very hands-on and are very visible around the property to attend to each and every need.

C-Bons International Golf Group owns two other courses in the Phoenix area.  They are Tres Rios Golf Course in Goodyear, AZ, and Moon Valley Country Club in Phoenix. CBIGG also owns Stallion Mountain Golf Club in Las Vegas, NV. In addition, CBIGG just completed the purchase of 22 golf properties featuring 27 courses. Many of these are located in the Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio, Texas markets, with additional courses in the upper Northeast.
