JGAA hosts 27th Annual Itty Bitty Open on January 17th

Children being introduced to golf with a free clinic.

Arizona’s leading junior golf program, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) is hosting the 27th Annual Itty Bitty Open on Saturday, January 17, 2015, which is sponsored by The Thunderbirds in conjunction with the Parks and Recreation Departments of the Cities of Phoenix, Glendale, Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa, Peoria, Scottsdale, Tempe, Surprise and Goodyear. Itty Bitty Open clinic times will start at 9a.m., 10a.m. and 11 a.m. at 15 locations across the Valley.

The Itty Bitty Open is a free event and is open to Valley children ages 3, 4 and 5. Each participant will receive an Itty Bitty Open set of plastic clubs and golf balls and a visor free of charge. Basic golf instruction will be provided by PGA and LPGA golf professionals at each location. Each child, along with an adult supervisor, will then participate in a non-competitive golf “tournament” on a specially-designed, 9-hole course to test their new skills.

A “Best Dressed” player and caddie contest will be held at each Itty Bitty Open site during each session time. Each “Best Dressed” winner will receive a congratulatory letter, a trophy and two tickets to the R.S. Hoyt Jr. Family Foundation Dream Day Activities on January 27, prior to the start of the 2015 Waste Management Phoenix Open, where the grand prize “Best Dressed” winner will be announced.
