City of Litchfield Park hosting Wigwam Amateur Championship

Wigwam Gold Course Hole #10

On Saturday and Sunday, May 23 & 24, 2015, the City of Litchfield Park and The Wigwam will host their 4th Annual Wigwam Amateur Championship at the historic Wigwam Golf Club. This is a two day, 36-hole individual stroke play tournament. The 84 player limited field is open to all amateurs with valid AGA or USGA handicaps.  Divisions include: Gross Championship, Men’s Net, Senior Net (55+) and, new this year, is a Women’s Net Division. Net divisions are flighted.

Tournament registration is $150 and includes: 2 tournament rounds; use of practice facilities; golf carts; and post-tournament awards luncheon. Wigwam Golf members pay a reduced rate of only $76. A portion of each registration fee benefits Friends of the Rec, a non-profit committed to encouraging social and recreational activities for youth and families in Litchfield Park and the surrounding West Valley communities.

Tom Jones Ford is the tournament’s official Hole-in-One Sponsor. The first round will be on the Heritage Course on Saturday, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and hole-in-one contest at the 17th hole. The final round will be on the Gold Course on Sunday, with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. and hole-in-one contest at the 6th hole. Pairings in the final round are based on scores from the first day’s round. The awards luncheon will immediately follow the completion of the final round.

The event also includes a tournament within a tournament for residents of the City of Litchfield Park. Residents playing in the Wigwam Amateur Championship will automatically be entered into the City Championship. Low net and low gross champions will be named.
