We-Ko-Pa named to list of most admired golf developments

Golf Inc., a leading magazine for golf course owners, developers and operators, selected We-Ko-Pa Golf Club as one of the 10 most admired golf developments and the most admired daily fee course in the country, according to their April edition. Golf Inc. created the list by collecting information from industry experts on what makes a golf development stand out from a business perspective.

In the article, writers Robert Vasilak and Laira Martin call special attention to the spectacular terrain and mountain vistas at We-Ko-Pa that are unobstructed by commercial and residential development. The article also features the world-renowned Bandon Dunes and the site of this year’s U.S. Open, Chambers Bay as well as Streamsong Resort, Creighton Farms, Fieldstone Golf Club, Sand Creek Station Golf Course, Butterfield Trail Golf Club, Martis Camp, and the Conservatory course at Hammock Beach Resort.

This is not the first time Golf Inc. has recognized We-Ko-Pa Golf Club. In 2009, the publication selected then director of golf operations, Derek Crawford, as one of the 10 most admired golf operators in the country. Additionally, in 2002, Golf Inc. featured We-Ko-Pa as the development of the year.

We-Ko-Pa Golf Club is a daily fee golf facility that consists of the original 18 holes, the Cholla course, designed by Scott Miller and a second 18 holes, the Saguaro course, designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw. In addition to the two 18-hole courses, there is a large practice facility, a full-service clubhouse and a second clubhouse serving the Saguaro Course. We-Ko-Pa is owned and operated by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
