Located in the northeast Valley of the Sun in the community formerly known as Tegavah, the new Verde River Golf & Social Club is now open for play with Arizona resident rates as low as $70 per player.

“We are thrilled to begin the journey towards the ultimate vision of Verde River Golf & Social Club,” said Levi Shill, General Manager of Trilogy at Verde River. “We’re starting with a wonderful community surrounded by gorgeous mountain views and a very solid golf course. The improvements on the horizon will only make it even more attractive.”

The 7,229-yard, par-72 golf course debuted as Vista Verde in 2007.  Although the timing wasn’t the best, Ken Kavanaugh’s design was spectacular.  The well-received desert golf experience weathered the economic downturn, eventually changing ownership and its name to Tegavah in 2014.  And after Shea Homes recently acquired it, the future of the golf course and community never looked as bright.

“It’s very encouraging to see what’s in store for the golf course,” said Brett Trenter, Director of Golf.  “It’s a good golf course that’s about to get even better with the help of Tom Lehman.”

PGA TOUR pro and Ryder Cup Captain, Tom Lehman, along with his partner at Lehman Design Group, Chris Brands, are teaming up on the project with the same passion that has already produced a number of top-ranked golf courses including several in Arizona such as Encanterra Country Club, Omni Tucson National-Sonoran and Verrado Golf Club.

They will be particularly focused on improving the green complexes and recapturing some of the natural arroyos that have become overgrown, in addition to ensuring that the spectacular sightlines to the nearby landmarks such as Four Peaks and the Mazatzal Mountains are incorporated into the course of play.  Work is already underway with more to follow in 2016.

Also in 2016, construction will begin on a new 30,000-square-foot clubhouse crafted by renowned designer Bing Hu of H&S International. Amenities will include a signature restaurant; indoor/outdoor bar; classic neighborhood café and gourmet market; full fitness facility; men’s and ladies’ locker rooms; spa facilities; resort pool; tennis and pickleball courts; sports shop; event center and more.

Although Verde River Golf & Social Club will eventually transition to a private club reserved exclusively for members and their guests, until then, public play is welcome.  In fact, they recently rolled out the Rapid Pass just for daily-fee golfers.  This frequent-player card gives cardholders preferred seasonal rates with a five-day booking window, among other benefits.

The club will become the social and recreational hub for Trilogy at Verde River, Shea Homes’ newest Trilogy master-planned resort community.  They’re now open for sales offering innovative and luxurious home designs that can’t be found anywhere other than Trilogy communities.
