“Women comprise 20 percent of the 25 million U.S. golfers,” said Mary Pomroy, AWGA’s Executive Director. “They are the decision makers regarding where they are going to play golf and which clubs they are going to join. The GEM program was designed to provide women playing golf in Arizona recommendations based on AWGA member’s experiences.”
Of the 2016 awardees, 18 of the clubs have received this award in the past.
“The GEM awards influences golf spending habits for women, their spouses, their friends and their families,” said Pomroy. “They also provide feedback for golf course owners and operators for learning about and understanding women’s preferences.”
