Aurilia wins in three-person playoff on first extra hole at ASU Karsten Golf Course

The PING Arizona Junior Masters wrapped up with a fair amount of drama. After regulation play, three juniors in the Boys Championship Division were tied for first place at 2-over par. Gavin Aurilia of Phoenix (72-72—144) settled first-place honors after a birdie on the first playoff hole, leaving Ali Hameed of Gilbert and Tony Hendricks of Phoenix to continue the playoff for second place. Hameed (73-71—144) went on to place second after edging out Hendricks (72-72—144) on the second playoff hole. 

Lauren Metcalf of Yuma placed first in the Girls Championship Division with a one-over-par 70-73—143 performance, five strokes clear of two competitors that finished tied for second place. Alyzzah Vakasiuola (75-73—148) of San Tan Valley and Samantha Sandland (74-74—148) of Phoenix remained tied after a scorecard playoff. Sandland prevailed in a blind draw.

The Boys 15-18 Division also ended deadlocked for first place at 5-over par, which was decided on the second playoff hole with Andrew Ellingsen (73-74—147) of Paradise Valley making birdie to take first place. Ethan Adam of Chandler won the Boys 13-14 Division at 4-over par (73-73—146). Adam Miller of Phoenix won in the Boys 11-12 Division at 1-under par (36-31—67). And, Brady McDonough of Scottsdale took the Boys 10 and Under Division with a score of 6-over par (38-36—74).

Michelle Koo of Scottsdale won in the Girls 15-18 Division at 13-over par (78-77—155). Sneha Yadav of Scottsdale won the Girls 13-14 Division at 9-over par (78-73—151). Ivy Song of Peoria won the Girls 11-12 Division at 6-over par (39-35—74), and Lucy Newell won in the Girls 10 and Under Division at 14-over par (42-40—82).
