If you’ve ever driven through the Tucson suburb of Oro Valley, you know how jaw-droppingly beautiful this location is. Located in the western foothills of the Santa Catalina Mountains at the base of Pusch Ridge, El Conquistador Golf & Tennis is a special place – a rare destination offering a myriad of community and recreational amenities and activities, kids programs and comfortable dining, all in a picturesque setting.

Winter visitors, Tucsonans and Phoenicians take note: add El Conquistador to your to-do list. Whether it’s for a recharge, a vacation, a special occasion or for a lifetime (yes, memberships are available), El Conquistador Golf & Tennis is a perfect escape from the stresses of everyday life.

Members of El Conquistador Golf & Tennis (located at the Oro Valley Community Center) have access to the largest array of amenities in Southern Arizona. Managed by Troon Golf, El Conquistador Golf & Tennis includes 45-holes of golf designed by Greg Nash and Jeff Hardin with an extensive golf practice facility, 31 lighted tennis courts, a fitness center, four pickle ball courts, two swimming pools, exclusive member discounts, access to the Oro Valley Aquatic Center and a full calendar of social, community and dining activities.

“I love the amenities here. The golf courses, the tennis facilities and fitness center are all incredible,” said Michael Ports, an El Conquistador member since 2013. “But as great as they are, it’s the people and the staff that make our experience here extraordinary. My family smiles, laughs and enjoys every minute we spend here.”

Whether you’re an avid golfer or an occasional player, a tennis aficionado or just enjoy knocking the ball around, there are a variety of membership options designed to meet the needs of an entire family. El Conquistador Golf & Tennis serves as a hub for the community to connect, ignite and inspire through activities, classes, events and programs.

As you would imagine from its location, the golf courses at El Conquistador Golf & Tennis are spectacular. The Cañada Course, which is situated across the road from the clubhouse, boasts stunning Catalina mountain views on every hole. Holes meander through saguaro-capped hillsides and are surrounded by natural desert terrain. The 183-yard 8th hole overlooks the City of Tucson, and was voted one of the toughest par 3s in Southern Arizona.

In contrast to the desert setting of the Cañada Course, the Conquistador Course is set in a lush, park-like location. Lined with natural mesquite and palo verde trees, this fabulous 18-hole course features wide and open fairways and large receptive greens. The recently renovated 6,801-yard course plays to a par of 71.

El Conquistador’s family-friendly Pusch X9 course can be played in a variety of ways, including traditional golf, hack golf or FootGolf. In fact, a family of four can play together and each play a different game. This unique course makes family time fun and engaging for everyone.

“The variety of golf here at El Conquistador Golf & Tennis is remarkable,” said Head Golf Professional Erick Womack. “We have a challenging desert course in Cañada, a more forgiving course off the tee in the Conquistador Course, and our Pusch X9 course is a kick to play, regardless of your age or skill level. It’s a great place to be a member or to visit because of the variety.”

If tennis is your game, El Conquistador Tennis has been recognized as one of the finest tennis facilities nationally with 31 lighted tennis courts, four pickle ball courts, a tennis pro shop and on-site tennis instruction. The state-of-the art tennis complex is welcoming and offers an array of programs to introduce the game to new players. Programs operate year round and cater to individuals, couples, families, groups and children with special needs. The comprehensive adult and junior options have everyone covered and include adult camps, ladies retreats, junior camps, private lessons and clinics, local, junior, USTA and professional tournaments.

A visit to El Conquistador Golf & Tennis isn’t complete without a meal (or two) at The Overlook restaurant. The Overlook at El Conquistador Golf & Tennis is a culinary hidden gem and is, of course, open to the public. The Overlook features a unique blend of New American cuisine with an international twist all created under the watchful eye of Chef de Cuisine Tory Fitch. Enjoy comfort staples like pasta, salads, specialty sandwiches and seafood or sample one of Chef Tory’s signature dishes all while taking in a gorgeous sunset and the twinkling lights of downtown Tucson.

For visitors and vacationers, the nearby Hilton El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort is located on 500 beautiful acres. Resort visitors have access to El Conquistador Golf & Tennis’ 45-holes of golf. Plus, the AAA Four Diamond resort offers 428 spacious guest rooms and suite accommodations, sparkling pools, a 143-foot waterslide, five restaurants and offers some of the most pristine desert and mountain vistas in the Southwest.
