First annual Marilynn Smith LPGA Charity Golf Classic

Set for September 21 at PebbleCreek’s Tuscany Falls course

The first annual Marilynn Smith LPGA Charity Golf Classic will be played September 21 on PebbleCreek’s Marilynn Smith LPGA Charity Golf Classicbeautiful Tuscany Falls Golf Course. The 8 am shotgun, scramble format, open to both men and women amateurs, will support the Marilynn Smith Golf Scholarship which is managed by the LPGA Foundation.
Kathy Whitworth, special honoree, will play along with other former LPGA players Hollis Stacy, Sherri Turner, Shelley Hamlin, Stephanie Farwig, Penny Pulz, Ellie Gibson, Tina Barrett and the ten-year old amateur sensation from Avondale, Alexis Flores. The $150 entry fee includes golf with a professional or celebrity, the awards luncheon with live and silent auctions and a goodie bag. A Rolex watch and a hat signed by Tiger Woods highlight the live auction. For those not playing, lunch and a silent auction will be available for $30.

Marilynn Smith, a resident of PebbleCreek, is a founding member of the LPGA, winning over 20 LPGA tournaments and has been inducted in the World Golf Hall of Fame. She is regarded as one of golf’s greatest goodwill ambassadors. The Marilynn Smith Scholarship supports young women who have demonstrated academic achievement and plan to major in education or business and continue to play competitive golf at an accredited college or university.
