Superstition Mountain, always acclaimed as the Desert Mountain of the east Valley by the locals, reclaims its once proud place among the premier golf communities in the country after rebounding from bankruptcy. The community went to auction in 2009 when the original ownership ran into financial difficulties. A member stepped in, purchased the property, and Superstition Mountain is now healthier than it has ever been. Membership is growing. Houses are being built. And, there’s even talk of bringing some of the Tour events back.

“We are excited to introduce the new Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club to both local and national golf enthusiasts who appreciate world-class golf,” says General Manager Gene Blum, who, along with the members, is understandably thrilled to see the club return to its glory days.

The 870-acre master planned community, 25 minutes from Phoenix, sits at the foot of the magnificent Superstition Mountain Range. With an exclusive membership, choice homesites and stunning mountain views, it is revered as one of “the” places to live in the Phoenix area.

Superstition Mountain Golf and Country Club offers spectacular golf in a truly dramatic old world setting. Situated on the eastern edge of the Phoenix metropolitan area at the foot of the majestic Superstition Mountains, this prestigious club boasts two Nicklaus designed courses (Prospector and Lost Gold) with impeccable conditions, highlighted by jaw-dropping views, a spectacular clubhouse and a fully appointed sports club and spa which, together with many indoor and outdoor recreational pursuits, invites you to enjoy a fulfilling and rich resort experience.

Ranked as one of America’s 100 Premier Properties by Links Magazine and decorated with “Top 100” accolades from Golfweek and Golfworld, Superstition Mountain has been honored to host numerous major LPGA and Champions Tour Tournaments. As a host venue to the LPGA Safeway International, The Countrywide Tradition, and the Senior Slam, Superstition Mountain has hosted some of the games greatest including Jack Nicklaus, Curtis Strange, Tom Kite, Hale Irwin, Annika Sorenstam and Lorena Ochoa to name only a few.

The links-style Lost Gold course, site of a Champions Tour major in 2002, The Tradition, weaves through magnificent desert terrain once explored by conquistadors in search of the Cities of Cibola. The back nine opens out into the desert where the view of the mountains gets even more commanding.

Tour pros have been profuse in their praise. “Of all of the majors around the world that I have played in, these are the finest playing surfaces I have played on,” said Tom Weiskopf. Chimed in Ben Crenshaw: “These greens are as good, if not better than any I have ever played.”
Add in a 12-acre practice facility, one-acre putting green, and conditions that are always impeccable, and you have a golf experience that measures up to the best anywhere.

The luxurious men’s and women’s locker rooms are housed in the 50,000-square-foot clubhouse, which was designed to resemble an old Tuscan hilltop village. At the Sports Club, members also enjoy tennis, basketball and swimming, in addition to a well-equipped fitness center.
Even with the resort-style facilities and service, it’s all about community here. Having weathered the downturn and emerged in a stronger position, Superstition Mountain’s members have a greater sense of togetherness than
ever before.

For prospective buyers, the club’s appeal has never been greater. There are great values in homes and home-sites, with membership included in the purchase of every new home.

As well as memberships available…for the first time, you can experience Superstition Mountain as a “Guest of the Club”. One course is open for “Guest of the Club” each day, while one is reserved for members. Starting times are available and current rates start at $85 on weekdays and $100 on weekends.
