Golf Inc. names Tonto Verde Country Club Clubhouse of the Year

In the annual Clubhouse of the Year competition, Golf Inc. magazine selected Tonto Verde Country Club as the first place winner in the Remodel / Renovation category – beating out a competitive list of candidates. Second place finisher in that category was Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, N.C. and third place was Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Md.

Tonto Verde is a custom golf community located in the northeast valley of Phoenix, just 10 miles from North Scottsdale. With breathtaking views of the Mazatzal and McDowell Mountain ranges, Tonto Verde is a well-kept secret.

The Tonto Verde Country Club, designed by SHJ Studio and Kimberly Timmons Interiors, provides a warm, naturalistic color palette throughout the interior from hand-carved furnishings and Navajo rugs to wall and ceiling finishes. The 22,000 sq. ft. club’s Santa Fe style has a warm, inviting decor that complements the spectacular native Sonoran desert setting.

Mindful of capturing views, rustic wood columns, corbels, beams and lintels add Southwest character to the inviting exterior patio. These elements provide welcome shade and shadow to the sociable private terraces that overlook a lake and amazing mountain views.

Katrina Cavagnaro, publisher of Golf, Inc. magazine, states, “This year’s entrants were the epitome of distinctive architectural expression. The honorees stood above a very strong crowd with modern and traditional styles.”

All the winners will be showcased in the upcoming Spring issue of Golf, Inc. magazine. Clubs were selected on the criteria of overall design concept, aesthetics and efficiency.
