Club accepts Giving Hands Award for exceptional fundraising
Blackstone Country Club in Vistancia recently received the Rosa Davalos Giving Hands Award for exceptional fundraising from Singleton Moms, a local, non-profit organization that supports single parents battling cancer.
The award was accepted by Blackstone golf club members Jane Dibbern and Amanda Pham at the Third Annual Singleton Moms Giving Hands Ball. Both Dibbern and Pham spearheaded the club’s benefit golf tournament for the organization held last March, generated entries among the Blackstone membership and secured sponsors. The tournament raised $30,000 in its first year and attracted 100 member players and numerous non-golfers who participated in putting contests and a silent auction. Blackstone plans to make it an annual event.
Singleton Moms was founded in 2006 by two Valley women who watched their childhood friend, Michelle Singleton, succumb to cancer. The organization offers emotional, financial and domestic support to single mothers or fathers in Maricopa County who have children living at home, are receiving cancer-related treatments and are in need of financial and/or household assistance.
“Blackstone is honored to support an organization like Singleton Moms because it has such a positive impact on the community,” said Director of Golf Todd Cernohous adding that the event was successful because of the involvement of the members. “We look forward to growing the tournament with each year.”
Blackstone is a 570-acre private, gated community offering a variety of real estate opportunities including luxury builder homes and custom home sites. The purchase of real estate is not required to become a member of the golf club, featuring the first Arizona golf course designed by Jim Engh and characterized by sheer rock faces, gently undulating fairways and imaginative greens. The course has been designated a Certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.
Blackstone is located north of Happy Valley Road and west of Lake Pleasant Parkway within the master planned community of Vistancia.
