“You Have Cancer” – three words nobody ever wants to hear. Yet millions of people are diagnosed with cancer each year. Unfortunately, it seems these days everyone is touched by cancer in some way or another. One group of friends decided they wanted to do something to about that. They formed a team for Relay for Life – a fundraising event for the American Cancer Society. To raise money for their team, they hold an annual golf tournament where participants and sponsors can help them “Take a swing at cancer”.
This year’s tournament will be held on Saturday, April 14th at Kokopelli Golf Club in Gilbert, AZ. The tournament has a 1:00pm shotgun start and will be a 4-person scramble format. Entry fee is $69/player or $250/foursome until March 15th (after March 15th the cost is $79/player or $300/foursome). Fee includes dinner, carts, GPS, and range balls. Contests, raffle and silent auction will also be available.
Players can register online at www.kokopelligc.com/swingatcancer2012. Sponsorships are still available and they welcome any donations for raffle prizes or silent auction items. For sponsorship information, contact Jim Hart at hart@kunka.com or Jennifer Dumphy at jdumphy@cox.net. All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society. You can follow the tournament on Facebook at www.facebook.com/takeaswingatcancer.
