Verde River Golf & Social Club: In Full Bloom

There’s an old saying that the best things are often worth waiting for. But often, that wait is difficult. For example, as you blast through Yuma towards the sun and fun in San Diego, it’s sometimes hard to “see” the beach. Likewise, in the dog days of our major renovation project at Verde River Golf & Social Club, it took quite an imagination to envision what was to come. But, now that the work is completed, two things immediately come to mind. First, reality blows away everything I had pictured in my mind, and second, the team and I are extremely grateful to be on this journey and thankful to our members and guests who have been so patient with us.

More than two years ago, Tom Lehman spearheaded the renovation of the golf course. He enhanced the original design to recapture some of the natural arroyos, restore sightlines, reshape a few greens and bunkers, reroute holes to accommodate the new clubhouse, and generally make it more enjoyable for play. And this past summer, we spent five months improving the agronomy and raising the standard for our playing conditions. And through all of that, our membership continues to grow. The course will eventually be fully private, but for now, the public is welcome. Hint: play it while you still can.

As good as the golf course is, the new clubhouse and facilities are even better. Needle Rock Kitchen & Tap is our new restaurant and might have the best patio views in the entire valley, rivaled only by our casual dining at Eddy’s Poolside. And Alvea Spa offers the finest in soothing relaxation and personalized wellness. All of these are open to the public – at least for a while. Reserved for our members, we have resort-style and lap pools, a demonstration kitchen, an art studio, tennis, pickleball, health & fitness center and much more. And finally, The Outfitter shop will get you geared up for hiking, walking, mountain biking, paddle boarding and kayaking on the Verde River.

Again, thank you to all of you who’ve been patient and supportive as we tried our best to fulfill the promises we’ve been making. It’s gratifying to nurture something for so long and finally see it bloom. And for those who’ve not been to Verde River, please plan to come and visit. We would love to share it with you.
