Junior Golf Association of Arizona recognizes its annual Player of the Year award winners

Arizona’s leading junior golf program, the Junior Golf Association of Arizona (JGAA) held its annual awards banquet to honor members on Sunday, November 16 at Moon Valley Country Club. Guest speaker and current Golf Channel analyst, Brandel Chamblee and Executive Director, Scott McNevin honored Arizona’s most talented juniors for their excellence both on and off the course and thanked family and friends for their contributions. Awards were bestowed to each age division for the following honors: Player of the Year, Sportsmanship, Most Improved and Hole-in-One recipients. Player of the Year honors for the Girls Championship division went to Mikayla Fitzpatrick and for the Boys Championship division, Brock Goyen.

“This event allows the organization to recognize our youth members for their hard work, skill and achievements throughout the year,” said Scott McNevin, JGAA Executive Director. “The JGAA is proud to play a role in the incredible growth of our members, as they strive to be champions in golf and in life.” 

 Mikayla Fitzpatrick played in 17 events, finishing in the top 10 on 13 occasions and three wins during the season. Her wins include the Desert Mashie Spring Championship, the Antigua Milt Coggins Junior Stroke Play and the West Valley Junior Championship. Brock Goyen finished in the top 10 in 12 tournaments, while playing in 17 tournaments during the season and finished in second place in five outings. Both Goyen and Fitzpatrick were consistent in their championship level of playing throughout the season which helped achieve the distinguished Player of the Year award.

The following represents the remaining JGAA Player of the Year Award Winners: Boys and Girls Championship – Brock Goyen and Mikayla Fitzpatrick • Boys and Girls 15-18 – Kyle Peterson and Ocean Pangan • Boys and Girls 13-14 – Alejandro De Zavala and Isabella Cantwell • Boys and Girls 11-12 – Daniel Thompson and Ashley Menne • Boys and Girls 10 & Under – Nicklaus Nuez and Abbey Schutte.
