The First Tee of Phoenix – owned and operated by The Thunderbirds – announced an agreement to open their 15th junior golf programming site for The First Tee of Phoenix at TPC Scottsdale’s Champions Course. This is the first programming site in the northeast Valley and the first city-run programming site for the Phoenix Chapter. The First Tee programming at TPC Scottsdale begins the week of April 5, 2016.

“It is wonderful to welcome The First Tee of Phoenix to TPC Scottsdale. Bringing this great program, which is supported by The Thunderbirds, to the facility they helped make famous, is a perfect match,” said Scottsdale Mayor W.J. “Jim” Lane. “The First Tee teaches young people to focus, work hard, play fair, and persevere, which are values echoed throughout the great City of Scottsdale. We are going to have a bright future together here, and many future leaders of our community will benefit.”

The grand opening ceremony took place on Saturday, March 26 at TPC Scottsdale’s Champions Course in Scottsdale. The event kicked off with a short welcome from The First Tee of Phoenix Executive Director, Kevin Terry, followed by a few words from Scottsdale Myor W.J. “Jim” Lane, a trick-shot golf show, a junior golf clinic as well as lunch and refreshments for all in attendance.

“We’re extremely proud to open our first City of Scottsdale programming location for our chapter at TPC Scottsdale,” said Herman Lewkowitz, Board Chair for The First Tee of Phoenix. “TPC Scottsdale has fantastic facilities, a one-of-a-kind golf atmosphere and our members will have the opportunity to share the same practice areas as some of the best players in the world.”

Annual membership to The First Tee of Phoenix is just $60. The First Tee of Phoenix also accepts equipment and membership donations. Sign up now by visiting www.TheFirstTeePhoenix.org, or by calling 602.305.7655.
