Monarch Beach Resort selected for Gold Medal Golf Resort Award

Monarch Beach Resort has won the prestigious Gold Medal Resort Award from GOLF Magazine, joining elite company from throughout North America as one of only four Southern California destinations on the Gold Medal list of honorees for 2016-2017.

Part of the magazine’s “Premier Resorts” package, both in the June 2016 print edition and on GOLF.com, the biannual rankings are based on four criteria: golf, lodging, food and drink and service. Forty percent of the resort recognition is linked to golf, where voters considered factors such as challenge, playability, scenery, history, facilities and service. The rest of the score was equally weighed among lodging, food and drink and overall service at the resorts.

One of only six California resorts on the Gold Medal Resorts honor roll, Monarch Beach Resort is home to a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. designed golf course that wraps along the dramatic bluffs above the Pacific. The 6,600-yard, par-70 Monarch Beach Golf Links, recent host of the PGA Southern California Open Championship, is a modern design inspired by the legendary seaside Scottish links. Amid sweeping views to the sea, the well-crafted routing of tight fairways and rolling greens provides challenges as well as enjoyment to golfers of all levels.

“This is a special honor for our golf property,” said Eric Lohman, PGA General Manager of Monarch Beach Golf Links, “and It is a testament to the dedication of our entire golf operations team.”

Monarch Beach Resort also is honored as a Forbes Five-Star, and AAA Five-Diamond property.
