Davis Evans and Toni St John win the IHop Invitational at GCU

Evans goes 8-under par on the front 9 over two rounds on way to victory at final Junior Master Series event of the season

Davis Evans of Phoenix posted a 7-under-par 135 (67-68) to place first at the IHOP Invitational at GCU, contested August 20-21 at Grand Canyon University Golf Club. Evans started out hot both days of the 36-hole tournament firing 5-under and 3-under par on the front nine in rounds one and two, respectively. For the season, Evans notched top 10s in all four events entered, including first- and second-place finishes. Brock Goyen of Gilbert finished in second place with a score of 68-69—137 (5-under par), and Aaron Ramos of Goodyear finished at 4-under par (68-70—138).

Toni St John of Gilbert posted four-over par (73-73—146) to take first place in the Girls Championship Division by one stroke over Ashley Menne of Surprise (76-71—147). Michelle Nguyen of Phoenix placed third with a score of 78-75—153 (11-over par).

The IHOP Invitational at GCU marks the final of seven Junior Masters Series events JGAA’s schedule.

“Our goal is to provide a competitive place for aspiring players to play,” said George Getz, Chairman of the Board of the JGAA. “This tournament series will allow kids to earn national-level points and will serve as a launching pad into nationally chartered events.”
