Long-time Valley sports public relations and marketing professional inks first novel

“A Season With Hope” is now available online

Before embarking on a 30+ year career in sports public relations and marketing, Drew Wathey had dreams of becoming the next Brooks Robinson. And, despite being scouted in high school by the Cardinals and Yankees, Wathey realized that emulating the Hall of Fame third baseman would soon be just that – a dream. But, Wathey’s love for America’s pastime never diminished and now he has brought his passion for the game of baseball into a brand new novel, “A Season With Hope.”

In A Season With Hope, love that was once feared lost is found again and with it, a startling discovery. Dave “Tilly” Gentile finds himself faced with what may prove to be a life-altering journey and, as he begins his final quest to discover what his future holds, he soon realizes baseball may have been the ideal conduit for a new beginning in his life. His off-field antics during his playing days disrupted what could have been a Hall of Fame career, yet his downfall on the diamond may lead to a more hopeful experience off of it. A Season With Hope embodies the true essence of life – what was once wrong can be made right again.

A portion of the proceeds from A Season With Hope will be donated to the fight against cancer, in honor of Wathey’s late wife, Dede who was a Valley fixture in radio sales and advertising. Dede Wathey passed away in December, 2010 after a courageous 13-month battle with pancreatic cancer.
