Five Arizona golfers qualify to play in U.S. Junior Amateur

Two boys and three girls advance to the USGA Championships

Trueman Park of Chandler qualified to play in the U.S. Junior Amateur with a second-place, 3-under-par 69, one stroke behind medalist Cameron Sisk of Solana Beach, California (4-under-par 68) at Talking Rock Golf Club on June 26. After ending up tied for third place at 2-under-par 70, Joey Geary of Phoenix edged out Jacob Goode of Tucson in a playoff to advance to the championship. Goode will standby as first alternate. The U.S. Junior Amateur will be hosted by Flint Hills National Golf Club, Andover, Kansas – July 17-22.

On the girl’s side, Ashley Menne of Surprise and Kelly Su of Scottsdale qualified to play in the upcoming U.S. Girls’ Junior after finishing as co-medalists with a 1-under-par 70 at Alta Mesa Golf Club on June 26. This marks the second consecutive year that Menne and Su will compete in this prestigious USGA event to be held at Boone Valley Golf Club, Augusta, Missouri – July 24-29. Emily Mahar of Phoenix also qualified to play with a 2-over-par 73.
