Desert Mountain announces new leadership

A new leadership team is in place at Desert Mountain as the luxury high desert residential and golf community celebrates its third decade and looks toward a refreshed image and brand moving into 2018. 

The new team consists of renowned leaders from around the U.S. including a chief executive, a chief financial officer, a culinary director and a new marketing director. 

Joining Desert Mountain are: CEO Damon J. DiOrio, CFO Andrea Randall, Culinary Director Bertrand Bouquin and Director of Marketing Kim Atkinson.

Leading the team is Damon DiOrio, CCM, CCE, a hospitality leader who has decades of high-end golf club management experience. DiOrio comes to Scottsdale following a 14-year CEO position at Charlotte County Club, a 106-year-old member-owned club in North Carolina. A frequent speaker to Fortune 500 companies, DiOrio has been recognized with numerous honors in the profession including the National Honor Society of the Club Managers Association of America, Club Manager of the Year for North and South Carolina, and National Club Executive of the year. He was selected by his professional peers to serve as the National President of CMAA in 2014, representing an industry with more than 7,000 club executives in all 50 states and 21 countries of the world. 

Andrea Randall, Desert Mountain’s new CFO, leads a 13-person accounting and IT department. She brings more than 20 years of experience in the finance and accounting field. Since 2006, Randall has been the CFO for Ventana Canyon Alliance, owner and operator of the four-diamond The Lodge at Ventana Canyon Golf & Racquet Club in Tucson. She was a board member for the nonprofit, Everydayhope, and was a board member and President for Financial Executive & Affiliates of Tucson from 2009 to 2016. In 2016, she was named CFO of the Year for Southern Arizona, small to medium business.  

Bertrand Bouquin is Desert Mountain’s Director of Culinary Operations. As the Executive Chef at The BROADMOOR in Colorado Springs for the past 12 years, Bouquin has proven versatility and creativity in crafting drastically different menus for various restaurants. Prior to joining The BROADMOOR, Bouquin’s storied career included the opening of Restaurant Daniel and Café Boulud in New York City, Chef de Cuisine at the Lodge at Pebble Beach, and Executive Chef at 5-Star, 5-diamond La Maisonette Restaurant and La Normandie in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Desert Mountain’s new Director of Marketing and Communications is Kim Atkinson. She will oversee the in-house design and web team and work with sales team members to create, launch and drive brand awareness for Desert Mountain Club. Atkinson is an award-winning brand architect and has successfully built brands for well-known companies, including Mark-Taylor and Cold Stone Creamery. As a former Director of Public Relations for a local advertising agency, Atkinson created communication strategies for DMB, DC Ranch and the Arizona Office of Tourism.
